First-Bike-Ride-of-the-Year-in-order-to-meet-other-Riders
Event

For Whom: Anyone who likes to ride a bike. Anyone who thinks they might like to start biking. Anyone wanting to meet others who also like to ride. Anyone who wants a tour of some of the local streets out toward the National Palace Museum. Anyone wanting to see where there are some hiking trails. Anyone wanting to meet a friendly, eclectic group of folks who like to do everything from hiking around TienMu to biking, swimming, running, triathlons, bike path riding, walking, mountain biking, …
We leave: at 5:30am from TAS on Wednesday, August 15th (last PD day for TAS)
We'll be back: at TAS by 7:30 – depending on how long you talk at eat donuts! If we start on time, you could be back by 7am.
The route will: head out toward Takashimaya, weave through some quaint narrow alleys, go past the National Palace Museum just a bit, then head up a 2.5km low-grade climb to the top. The entire "climb" is on a beautiful road covered by trees; we'll be in the shade the entire time. Those who know the "Satellites" route, it is NOT that route; it's waaaay before that. It's the road which, from the top where we'll stop, if you went over the back, it would drop down into NeiHu in front of Miramar(a Mall - movies) and the Ferris Wheel.
The view: will be very nice along the way toward the top.
When reaching goal: we'll stop after the climb and have some "energy" food (aka, donuts and juice, etc).
Difficulty level: is just past easy and just before moderate. In the past the route has been what most would consider difficult. This ride is truly for everyone. It is totally flat to the Palace, then the road begins to climb a tiny bit, shortly after that we turn off and head on up the 2.5km climb.
Rules: No racing. No one is "dropped". Anyone who can't ride and talk at the same time is probably racing – see first rule.
Don't have a bike: yet? We'll help. "Reply-all" to the email and ask. Some of us have an extra bike.
Who else:

is coming? Here are some folks who will be there. Maybe you have met one of these people already. You can ask them a bit more about the ride, other rides we go on, the different types of riding groups, etc.

Ralph Whalen, Leon Maggio, Rock Hudson, Brenda Huff, Simon Moore, Bill Bryson, Karen Pearson, Carl Wegner, John Crossman, Curt Farnham, Jack Murphy, Allison Nave, John VandenBoom, Laura and Joe Earley, Barry Sullivan, Dave Wittry

More riding after the ride: will surely happen. You'll find a group(s) to ride with during this ride. Also, please check out YangMingShan Cycling Club blog - we post rides, race info, and general biking stuff - you can post as well.
